Success Area #2 - Tell people what you are doing!
Invite them in to monitor your progress..
This could easily have been included in the section above on
motivation. There is nothing more motivating than declaring to the world
that you are going to do something, and then giving them an easy way to
check on your progress anytime day or night!
These exciting features go well beyond motivation however, and
so we felt they deserved their own section.
Of course this part of the Body-for-Life Success System is entirely optional,
but if you are willing to take the leap there is no better
way to stay focussed. Consider it insurance that encourages
your future self to remain as motivated as the person reading this page
today!
Imagine a Body-for-Life Tracker that gives you incredible tools to
plan and track your own workouts within your private members area, then
with a few clicks of the mouse turns it all into a multi-page public website
showing all your progress.
You will receive you own special link to your very own
Body-for-Life website that you can share with friends, family, workout
buddy, or personal trainer; no technical skills required!
You are in total control over what shows up on your Body-for-Life
website. You choose the title, write your own story, and decide whether
to show your Body-for-Life photos or not. You can place the link in your
Buddy Boards signature so that it shows up automatically at the bottom of all
your posts, or not.
You can allow the link to your website to appear in the Member
Profiles directory, or not. This directory is available to members
only, allowing you to view other member's photos and experiences.
Notice the links at the top of the screenshot that in an actual member
profile would take people to all the details of your Body-for-Life
journey. This includes your workout details and graphs, which are
created for you automatically as you enter your workouts into the system.
Once again, no technical skills are required.
You can also give people access to the Meal Plan and Recipes you are using for
the current week. The system comes pre-filled with suggestions for your
first week's Meal Plan complete with recipe suggestions, but of course you
can modify this to your own taste. This leads us to the next success
area...
Success Area #3 - Plan your Body-For-Life Meals
As Body-For-Life author Bill Phillips says: "If you fail to plan, you are
planning to fail." This is critical when it comes to your diet. By
the time you get hungry it is too late, you WILL eat whatever is available, no
matter how high in fat it is.
The example screenshot shows the meals/recipes you get by default for your first
Wednesday after signing up for BFL Coach. These are just suggestions of
course, you have total freedom in your planning area to change things to your
taste.
There are hundreds of Body-for-Life authorized recipes that you can setup as
convenient links in your Daily Meal Plans. You may want to
setup your weekly meal plan and repeat it week after week, or come up with
a new plan at the start of each week.
Success Area #4 - Plan and Track
your Body-For-Life Workouts
Once again, as Bill Philips says: "If you fail to plan, you are planning
to fail." This is just as critical when it comes to
workouts. As Bill says, the people wandering around the gym not
knowing what to do next are going nowhere fast. Great achievement comes
from maintaining intensity in your workouts. This is especially important if
you have registered for the Body for Life
Challenge
The screenshot above is an example of what you should be taking to the gym with
you. This plan is prepared automatically for you when you click
on the "Generate Workout Plan to Print" link in the top right corner
of your planning area. See the planning area here:
Notice how easy it is to add your own exercises to the system drop down
boxes. To add "My Favorite Exercise" as in the example, you simply
type it in and click on the "Add Now" arrow.
This automatically includes it in the drop down and everywhere else in
the system, like graph pages, as if it were part of the base system.
After that you never have to type in the exercise name again!
Choosing an exercise from the drop downs brings in all the details from the last
time you did that exercise, no matter how long ago it was. No more
flipping through binders to find out what you did last time!
This is all part of what we call "Performance Based Planning". Plan your
next Body-for-Life workout based on past results.
Also notice that when you return from your workout you can simply click on the
"Copy Plan to Actuals" link to update the system with your results.
This means you only need to record things that do not go according to plan in
the gym, simplifying the process all around.
It also means there is very little typing involved in tracking your
workouts, and you never need to re-type information that does not change from
week to week. If you work your plan exactly there is no typing involved
in entering your results at all, unless you want to add some notes.

methods, yet gives you all the amazing features described on this page,
like your own personal Body For Life website, easy access to past workout
information, handy workout sheets to take with you to the gym and more...
The Highpoints mini-graph you see on the top left of the page updates
automatically as you enter your latest results. If you click on the
mini-graph you can open an expanded and printer friendly graph as shown below:

have signed up for BFL Coach and I love the tools. I like how you can input
your goal of your work out vs your actual workout and all of the graphs. I
think that it is an awesome tool and I will continue to use it from here on
out.

Success Area #5 - Plan your Body-For-Life Cardio
You guessed it, Bill Phillips says you gotta plan! The following
screenshot shows the Cardio planning area:
Although very similar to planning your weight workouts, this screenshot shows
one of the other graph types, also available as an option in the Upper and
Lower Body planning areas. The Exercise Frequency Pie Chart shows how
often you have been doing certain exercises over time.
Since your body is very adaptable, you need to keep challenging it
with different exercises to continue progressing, and this pie chart
helps you do that.
Success Area #6 - Record your Body Statistics
regularly
Relying on your weight scale alone can lead to frustration, since you don't
always see progress there right away.
Your body may be building muscle and losing fat, but your overall weight may not
budge initially. Recording your Body Stats regularly shows you that
progress is being made, and keeps you motivated.
BFL Coach allows you to record and graph all the major indicators like Body Fat
%, lean mass, BMI, and body measurements. You will often see progress in
these areas first, which is a sign of great things to come!
Success Area #7 - Hold Yourself Accountable
The key to success with anything is finding ways to hold yourself
accountable. Finding yourself a workout buddy or online buddy can be very
helpful. At BFL Coach we give you a number of other ways to accomplish
this as well.

The two bar charts you see in the screenshot will greet you every time you visit
BFL Coach. They show you at a glance how hard you have been working on
the program.
The Highpoints bar graph gets updated automatically as you enter your workout
results into the system, although the system gives you ways to update them
directly as well. This allows you to bring in your historic highpoints if
you have already been doing Body-for-Life before joining BFL Coach.
The Dietpoints bar chart is an honor system where you give yourself a point
whenever you have a totally "clean" day as far as your diet is concerned.
We encourage you to give yourself a point for your weekly "free day" as well,
since this is an important part of the Body-for-Life program.
Use these and other BFL Coach tools to hold yourself accountable!
Success Area #8 - Monitor your overall progress
and make adjustments when necessary
Are you lifting less weight this week compared to previous weeks? This
could be a sign of over-training, signaling the need for a few days off,
or at least a temporary decrease in intensity.
On the other hand have you been comfortably lifting the same weights for months
now? You may want to consider increasing the weight so that you are able
to progress to the next level.
Our graphs area gives you access to all your graphs in one place and allows you
to set the date range you are interested in.
You should make a point to review these graphs from time to time and make
adjustments if necessary.
